Iliana Nicholas
Iliana's interest in climate resilience and adaptation planning blossomed while interning for Climate Resilient Communities in its early program stages under Acterra. Its commitment to pursue climate solutions driven by the community was a principle that she always admired and is why she continues to be involved today. After earning a Masters's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from San José State University, Iliana joined the East Palo Alto Community Alliance and Neighborhood Development Organization (EPACANDO). She currently leads a program assisting East Palo Alto homeowners with accessory dwelling units. A life-long resident of East Palo Alto, Iliana has always aspired to give back to her community. In her free time, she is a member of the East Palo Alto Planning Commission and the East Palo Alto Climate Change Community Team. She also volunteers her summers to the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project, empowering youth to pursue higher education, engage in civic participation, and become agents of social change.
