Keeping up with Kamille: Resilient Leadership Program Manager completes Coastal Climate Resilience Professional Development course at UC Santa Cruz

We’re thrilled to share exciting news about our Resilient Leadership Program Manager, Kamille Lang! Recently, Kamille completed the inaugural 2024 Coastal Climate Resilience Professional Development Course at UC Santa Cruz, with a gracious scholarship from the San Francisco Estuary Institute. This intensive program provided her with valuable technical knowledge for planning nature-based solutions that enhance coastal resilience while staying true to CRC's core values of environmental justice and community-led engagement.

For Kamille, the experience was a delightful throwback to her undergraduate days at Cal Poly Humboldt, where she earned a B.S. in Environmental Management and Protection with an emphasis in Environmental Education.

“Hearing from technical experts rekindled my passion for exploring environmental solutions through an academic lens.”

One of the highlights of the course was the opportunity to connect with a diverse group of professionals from across California and beyond, fostering a unique bond among participants who shared a commitment to coastal resilience.

Adding to her impressive academic background, Kamille is currently pursuing two Master's degrees at Presidio Graduate School - a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Administration. This dual pursuit of advanced degrees brings a rigorous academic perspective to her work in the Resilient Leadership program. Importantly, Kamille ensures that this academic knowledge is always grounded in the realities of the communities she serves, emphasizing the crucial role of community leadership in project development and implementation.

Kamille is excited to apply her newfound knowledge and ongoing academic insights to her work across the San Francisco Bay and is eager to share these perspectives with her team members and partners. With this experience under her belt, she envisions a future where community engagement in coastal resilience projects takes on renewed energy. Kamille is passionate about communicating the benefits of nature-based solutions and fostering harmony in developing long-term strategies that positively transform our coastlines—all with continuous community feedback.

We're incredibly proud of Kamille's achievements and her commitment to ongoing professional development. Her dedication to growth and her community-centered approach exemplify the spirit of CRC and continue to inspire us all. We look forward to seeing how her unique blend of academic rigor and community-focused practice will further enrich our work at Climate Resilient Communities.
